Served at Refettorio Geneva, 1 January–19 October 2026. Each meal corresponds to one beneficiary served during that meal, not a unique person across the year.
REFETTORIO GENEVA ↗04 / IMPACT & TRANSPARENCY — MATER FONDAZIONE
Behind every figure is a person, a team or a decision. We document what we can, explain what each number means and distinguish activity from lasting change.

REAL PEOPLE. REAL WORK. ACCOUNTABLE RESULTS.
01 / THE PRINCIPLE
A meal can alleviate hunger. A shared table can create belonging. Emergency kitchens can reinforce a community. A constitutional guarantee creates obligations.
Those contributions are different. They deserve their own definitions, periods and evidence — not one impressive-sounding but misleading combined total.
02 / DOCUMENTED OPERATIONAL ACTIVITY
2026 INTERIM SNAPSHOT · TO 19 OCTOBER
GENEVA / REFETTORIO
Served at Refettorio Geneva, 1 January–19 October 2026. Each meal corresponds to one beneficiary served during that meal, not a unique person across the year.
REFETTORIO GENEVA ↗LEBANON / EMERGENCY RESPONSE
Approximate meals prepared and distributed through Rapid Relief Kitchen and local partners, 18 April–30 September 2026. Partner-reported estimate, not an audited total.
RAPID RELIEF KITCHEN ↗GENEVA / COMMUNITY
People mobilised during 2026 through the reporting date. Headcount rather than number of shifts or hours.
VOLUNTEER WITH MATER ↗GENEVA / PARTICIPATION
Beneficiaries, volunteers, team members and partners who joined the first États généraux du Refettorio on 8 October 2026.
THE REFETTORIO JOURNAL ↗Source: MATER 2026 interim operational monitoring through 19 October. The Lebanon total is an estimate provided by an operational partner. Figures are programme-specific, provisional, and not an independent impact evaluation.
03 / REFETTORIO SERVICE TRANSFORMATION
Since 1 July 2026, Refettorio Geneva has dedicated both lunch and dinner to free social service. The change is visible in average monthly free meals served.
AVERAGE FREE MEALS PER MONTH · REFETTORIO GENEVA · 2026
September saw 2,117 free meals — the highest monthly level recorded in 2026 as of the interim report.
The comparison uses six months (January–June) and three months (July–September). Monthly averages adjust for unequal periods. This is a service activity measure, not evidence of long-term food-security outcomes.
04 / PUBLISHED ANNUAL BASELINE
05 / WHAT THE DATA MEANS
Each free meal counted at Refettorio corresponds to a person served on that occasion, not an individually identified person for the year. Paid lunch and event covers are recorded separately.
The Lebanon meal figure comes from local operational partners. It is approximate, covers a defined period, and must not be represented as audited or added to another programme without context.
A full calendar year, a partially completed year, a project deployment and an all-time cumulative indicator describe different realities. We display their reporting windows explicitly.
Meal volumes and volunteer involvement are measures of activity. Dignity, food security, agency and policy change require qualitative evidence and longer-term evaluation.
06 / REPORTS & FINANCIAL TRANSPARENCY
COMPLETE ARCHIVE / 2020–2025
Six years of activity reports and financial documents, organised by year so you can follow MATER’s work and accountability from 2020 to 2025.
Financial documents are presented under their original titles: a financial report for 2020 and audited accounts for 2021–2025.
07 / THE OUTCOMES WE ARE WORKING TOWARD
Food security is not created by counting plates alone. Participation, democratic governance, public policy and the implementation of the right to food matter too.
The États généraux give beneficiaries a voice in Refettorio's future. ODAG tracks Geneva's right to food through 30 indicators. Neither should be collapsed into a meal count.
08 / TAKE PART
Read the reports. Ask questions. Visit the table. Help us make access to good food a matter of rights rather than privilege.
