A KITCHEN THAT CAN MOVE.
Built around a transportable containerised kitchen, RRK brings professional cooking capacity to settings where infrastructure may be disrupted or unavailable.
Rapid Relief Kitchen is MATER's modular response to food insecurity in emergencies. Designed to strengthen local food assistance, not replace the communities that sustain it.
HOW IT WORKS ↘
An emergency meal should never mean lower standards of nutrition, dignity or care.
Built around a transportable containerised kitchen, RRK brings professional cooking capacity to settings where infrastructure may be disrupted or unavailable.
The aim is to strengthen existing networks of food providers, humanitarian organisations, cooks and communities — not to replace them.
Speed matters. So do food safety, nutritional quality, responsible sourcing and the way people experience food assistance.
In Lebanon, the project has developed from a Beirut prototype into collaboration in other affected communities, including the Bekaa Valley. Local knowledge and partnerships are central to the response.
Approximate number reported for the Lebanon response during this period by an operational partner. Not an audited cumulative total.

What happens when people need good food and the usual kitchens can no longer reach them?
Initially conceived for food needs in maritime rescue settings, Rapid Relief Kitchen evolved into a modular response system. The Beirut prototype demonstrated sustained food operations, and subsequent work in Lebanon has tested the model with local partners.
Crisis response must do more than count portions. The objective is a reliable food response that can adapt: people, cooking capacity, logistics, partnerships and a continued commitment to dignity.
